IPB AND BUSDUCT SERVICES

IPB and Busduct Installation, Dismantling, Welding, Testing and Commissioning Services

Arslantay Professional Energy Services provides installation, dismantling,

aluminium welding, dry-air pressurisation, site testing, quality control and

commissioning services for IPB and busduct systems used in power plants and

industrial facilities.

IPB AND BUSDUCT SYSTEMS

IPB (Isolated Phase Bus) and busduct systems are busbar systems designed for

the safe, efficient and controlled transmission of high electrical currents.

They provide a reliable power-transmission solution, particularly in

high-current applications where conventional cable systems may not be

technically or economically suitable.

In an IPB system, each phase is enclosed within a separate metallic enclosure

to reduce electromagnetic effects and the risk of phase-to-phase faults.

These systems are commonly used for high-current connections between

generators, generator step-up transformers, auxiliary transformers and

switchgear equipment.

When correctly designed and professionally installed, IPB and busduct systems

offer significant advantages such as high current-carrying capacity, compact

construction, rapid site installation, operational safety, suitable fire

performance and low maintenance requirements.

OUR SERVICE SCOPE

- Installation of all types of IPB and busduct systems

- Controlled dismantling of existing systems

- Refurbishment, modification and capacity-upgrade activities

- Installation of IPB conductors and enclosures

- Installation of segregated and non-segregated phase busducts

- Installation and adjustment of supporting structures

- Alignment of busbars, enclosures and supports

- Installation of expansion joints and flexible connections

- Generator, transformer and switchgear connections

- Installation of tap-off units, connection boxes and terminal sections

- Inspection of insulators, gaskets, seals and connection components

- Installation of earthing and equipotential bonding connections

- Fault detection and repair of existing systems

- Post-installation cleaning, preservation and commissioning preparation

PROFESSIONAL ALUMINIUM WELDING SERVICES

The quality of conductor and enclosure connections in IPB and busduct systems

is essential to electrical performance and long-term reliability. Our

experienced aluminium welding personnel carry out field-welding activities

using equipment and procedures appropriate to the project requirements.

- Aluminium conductor and enclosure welding

- TIG/MIG and project-approved welding processes

- Professional torch and aluminium welding equipment

- Preparation of welding joints and surfaces

- Field welder qualification tests

- Preparation of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)

- Preparation of Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)

- Welder performance and qualification records

- Control of welding parameters and consumables

- Post-weld cleaning and surface inspection

- Visual Testing (VT) of welds

- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

- PT coverage according to the project specification or client requirements

- Reporting of nonconformities and controlled repair welding

DRY-AIR PRESSURISATION SYSTEM

Temperature differences between day and night may cause condensation and

moisture to develop inside IPB enclosures. Moisture can adversely affect

insulation performance, metallic surfaces and overall system reliability.

A dry-air pressurisation system maintains controlled positive pressure inside

the IPB enclosure. This helps limit the ingress of humid or contaminated

external air and reduces the risk of condensation.

Our pressurisation services include:

- Assessment of system requirements and air consumption

- Connection to suitable plant instrument-air or service-air lines

- Installation of an independent compressor and dry-air system when required

- Installation of filters, dryers, regulators and air lines

- Installation of the pressure-control panel

- Installation of pressure transmitters, switches and indicators

- Verification of alarm and low-pressure functions

- Leakage and pressure-holding tests

- Calibration of measuring instruments

- Energisation and functional testing of the control panel

- Adjustment of operating pressure according to manufacturer requirements

- Handover of a fully operational and monitorable system

SITE ACCEPTANCE TESTS (SAT)

After installation, the IPB and busduct system is inspected and tested in

accordance with the manufacturer's Site Acceptance Test procedures, project

specifications and applicable international standards.

Where available, site-test results are compared with Factory Acceptance Test

(FAT) results and manufacturer reference values. All test results are recorded

and the system's readiness for energisation is evaluated.

OUR SITE TESTS

- Visual inspection of the installation and general condition

- Busbar and enclosure alignment checks

- Inspection of supports and connection components

- Tightness and torque checks of bolted connections

- Inspection of insulators for cleanliness, cracks and damage

- Phase identification and connection-verification checks

- Electrical continuity tests

- Enclosure and earthing-continuity tests

- Contact-resistance measurement at busbar joints

- Insulation-resistance tests

- DC insulation-resistance measurement (Megger test)

- High-voltage withstand tests

- Repeat insulation-resistance measurement after high-voltage testing

- Dry-air pressurisation and leakage tests

- Testing of alarm, interlock and control functions

- Inspection of the pressure panel and auxiliary electrical circuits

- Visual and liquid penetrant testing at required locations

- Comparison of test results with FAT values

- Recording and rectification of nonconformities

- Final inspection and readiness assessment before energisation

QUALITY CONTROL AND TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION

All installation, welding and testing activities are documented in accordance

with the project quality plan and approved procedures. The system is handed

over ready for energisation after all required inspections and corrective

actions have been completed.

- Approved installation and test procedures

- Inspection and Test Plan (ITP)

- Method statements and work instructions

- WPS, PQR and welder qualification records

- Weld tracking lists and weld maps

- VT and PT examination reports

- Torque and mechanical-connection records

- Calibration certificates

- Insulation-resistance and high-voltage test reports

- Pressurisation and leakage-test records

- Nonconformity and corrective-action records

- SAT results and FAT comparison tables

- Punch-list monitoring and close-out records

- As-built documents and final handover dossier
